GQUAL’s panel presentation on the dimensions of the under-representation of women
On the first panel of the GQUAL Conference, GQUAL Secretariat member Maria Noel Leoni presented new research on the under-representation of women on international tribunals and monitoring bodies.
Her discussion included the unveiling of the GQUAL Ranking, which ranks countries that have more than one representative serving on any given international body a based on the number of women found within each representative pool. Additionally, the new data compared national parliamentary participation of women with female appointments to international positions in attempts to draw conclusions between the local and the global. While this research is not yet finalized, the presentation was a preview into a broader, more comprehensive research strategy that will be published as part of a follow-up to the conference.
