GQUAL monitors the composition of 88 different international organizations that represent 585 total available positions. In the next table, we examine past and current configurations of these bodies to see gender distribution.

Updated statistics to September 2022:

Once a year, GQUAL releases a world ranking that shows the number of nationals, by country, who hold positions in international bodies. This ranking is disaggregated by gender.

Because this information is not easily accessible, the ranking does not take into account nominations put forward by States that did not result in the filling of elected positions. However, when we examine who was elected for each position, we see that the vast majority of states tend to nominate more men than women to international positions.

For this analysis, we consider the regions of the world as defined by the United Nations (Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, Western Europe, Eastern Europe and Others).
