Crank up the volume for our #PodcastsforPARITY!
On March 8th, the world will be celebrating International Women’s Day. In light of these festivities, the GQUAL Campaign hosted a series titled “#PodcastsforParity” in collaboration with American University’s Academy on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law at the Washington College of Law.
Featuring GQUAL Team members, strategic advisers and supporters, each capsule raises issues touched upon by GQUAL as it charts a path to parity in international justice. Additionally, they feature the work of our partners, how they see the path for parity moving forward, and – in the spirit of the March 8 strike- what a day without women in international justice would really mean.
In our interconnected world, international bodies make important decisions for societies, including issues of security and peace, international boundaries, and the scope of human rights. Empowering women and ensuring the equal participation of women in these spaces, strengthens the legitimacy and impact of these institutions.
Moreover, in a climate that is increasingly viewing international institutions and cooperation as suspect, we hope that our conversations reaffirm our collective purpose to strengthen the legitimacy, impact and scope of the organizations at the forefront of global cooperation, defense and human rights through the equal representation of women.
